Camp Guidelines (2004) Staff
meetings.
As the week progresses, it is very important for us to be there to pray for each
other and to hear any important announcements for the day. Please be on time.
Wake each other up if necessary. Strive
for excellence in all you do.
Make sure that safety and understanding are a part of your skill times, play
times, and cabin crew times. Also, striving for excellence in the times that you
interact with the campers on a spiritual level.
Don’t guess what you think the
Bible says, look it up! Support
your fellow workers.
As we are working together, you need to be sure that your actions or reactions
do not make the job of your fellow workers harder. Helping to keep kids quiet
during announcements, getting them to where they need to be on time, etc.. ,
helps everyone.
Discipline.
Never
use force or yell at a camper.
If you are frustrated with a camper, get
help! You are not in a battle alone. We are here to help. Be VERY CAREFUL with
the words you use. You job is not to call to question their upbringing or even
their stand as a Christian. You need to encourage while yet helping the camper
to follow the rules.
Time
off.
Be wise with the little time off you have. Use this time to sleep, do devotions,
etc. All trips to town must be cleared by a head counsellor or the
director. We all need to remind each other in this area because if you are not
taking advantage of your rest time, then everyone may suffer.
The
following are expectations that we have for your campers and
for you too:

cabin activities after lights out

WEEKEND GUIDELINES
Unlike most camps GBC encourages you
to stay at the camp the weekend. Weekends are often special times to
spend with your friends, however we expect you to rest
If leaving the camp all staff please
leave indication to where you will be staying with phone number and where
you can be reached on the list in the staff lounge. All staff under 18 MUST
clear where they are going with parents/guardians.
Because of the busy schedule of camp,
we ask that you be in bed on the evening before registration by 11:00.
If you return to camp tired, you put a strain on the other team
members and it is harder for you to keep focused on the task ahead.
You are ambassadors for Gimli Bible
Camp and the Canadian Sunday School Mission. In light of this, we encourage you to be careful in the way
you act in public and also that you guard your mind in the music you listen
to and the movies you watch on your time off.
Because you have been giving
spiritually all week, we require that you attend a Bible believing and
teaching church on Sunday. This may mean leaving early to be able to return
for staff meeting.
All dishes used must be
cleaned up properly. Some meals may be
made for you, otherwise be careful to take into consideration the
camp food budget when making food for yourself.
The cooks will leave a list of leftovers that may be used on the
weekend. “Raiding” of the
other supplies like chips, and snack food will not be allowed.
There is an 1:00 curfew on Friday and
11:00 on Saturday. If you do not rest you will get sick
Interaction with staff of the opposite
sex will be limited to public areas. Do not enter each other’s cabins and be careful to keep
visiting in public places. Keep your fellowship in groups. No
dating.
No loud music that can be heard outside
of the cabin.
As a general rule,
visitors on the weekend are welcomed to camp during the day on Saturday
although staying overnight and eating meals are strongly discouraged and
must be okayed by the director.
The director or head
counsellor must clear any use of camp property (skill equipment).
Any movies to be watched
at camp must be cleared by the director and must have a no higher rating
than PG.
Even within this guideline, you must be aware of what you are
exposing yourself and other staff to. You are a child of God. Do
not put garbage into your mind.
Swimming at night or
canoeing at night is prohibited; lifeguards included.
