Meet the Staff




Don and Charlotte Roe
Directors		 Don started counselling at camp in 1975 and loved it so much he returned every summer until 1985 when he married Charlotte. They met at Providence Seminary where Don was working on his Masters in Christian Education to prepare for missionary work and Charlotte was strenghtening her faith and ministering with the Northern Canada Evangelical Mission. During the next 20 years Don worked in the North End of Winnipeg with children who had emotional, intellectual or behavioural problems. Don and Charlotte have been directing Gimli since 2006. Don encourages the staff and passes on the knowledge and experience he has gained over the years. Charlotte is in charge of the kitchen. They have four adult children.

Jake and Martha Friesen (and grandson)
Site Managers		 Jake accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour when he was 19 years old. He was involved with children's and youth ministry and as a church Deacon for many years. In 1984 as he dropped his children off for camp at Gimli the director asked him if he would help as a cabin leader. He said "no" the first year but the next he responded to God's prompting and was touched by the needs of the boys in his cabin. When one boy asked if Jake would take him home his heart was broken and God gave him a passion for ministering with CSSM. After many years guiding Gimli from the camp board Jake feels honored to be involved in the day to day operations of the camp as Site Manager and to see souls being saved and strengthened for Christ. "We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us."

George Klassen
Head Cabin Leader 		This will be George's 10th year at Gimli. He uses his experience, amazing empathy and love for the boys to calm things down when they get too excited. George is a foreman at a machine shop and gives up his summer every year to volunteer at camp...because kids are worth it

Samantha Passage
Head Cabin Leader		 Sam has been a cabin leader at Gimli for 5 years. She is always calm and ready to listen to the girls and their concerns. Samantha is completing her 3rd year at Steinbach Bible College

Tasha Lissenberg
Program Director		 Tasha is fun, energetic and child centered in her activity leading and relationships with the kids. This is her 5th summer at Gimli and she is full of ideas that will make camp funner and funner! Tasha is a youth ministries major at Providence Bible College

Jodi Tuckett
Head Lifeguard		 This is Jodi's 3rd year as lifeguard. She is ultra-responsible and mentors the other lifeguards as well as being a wonderful friend. Jodi is also in a cabin as she treasures the opportunities to get to know the girls. Jodi will be training to be an Educational Assistant in the fall.

Shaun Martens and
Madelyn Enarson
Leadership Development Program		 This will be Shaun's 9th year at camp, the last three years running LDP. Shaun is graduating from Providence College this spring with a B.A in Youth Leadership and is looking forward to what God has in store for the future. Madelyn has several years experience in camp ministry to share with our future camp leaders as well as her amazing personality. She is also graduating from Providence College this spring with a B.A. in Church Ministries.
